FAQs

  1. WHY DO I NEED A FORWARDER?

Because shipping companies and airlines focus on their core business activity of managing ships and aircraft economically and safely from country to country, they generally do not wish to become involved in domestic transport and documentation requirements usually associated with the movement of commercial goods on an ex-works basis. Nor for that matter do they take any interest in the transaction once on the water or in the air, particularly after arrival at the port of destination.

The international forwarder is a conduit between buyer and seller, and is able to:

  • Provide an understanding of all INCO terms 2000 and local transport regulation
  • Meet the buyers objective of timely delivery
  • Gain access to competitive shipping rates
  • Determine optimum economic routing of cargoes
  • Arrange for consolidation of LCL cargoes
  • Minimize import duty
  • Undertake Marine Insurance as requested

Freight forwarding has become a very complex and specialised procedure, which links the buyer and vendor, the carrier and customs, and the packer and transporter in one continuous process.
The correct choice of Freight Forwarder can be critical to your business, as the nature of the work undertaken by them on your behalf can have a substantial impact on bottom line results. If you consider your Forwarder as a partner, then this business becomes part of your business, and his goals are inextricably linked to the success of your operation.
